AGAVE attenuata

Description

Succulent and evergreen plant native to Mexico. With a rosette shape, it has fleshy and robust leaves with thorny apex and edges. It's a quite common plant in the Mediterranean that reaches massive proportions and gives a special and exotic charm to the garden. At maturity, it produces long and sturdy flower stems stimulating the plant to produce new shoots from the base. It is suitable both for coastal gardens and domestic ones. It could be cultivated in pots too.

Suggestions

In winter it's better to avoid water excesses placing the plant in drained substrate. Although it tolerates long periods of droughts, sporadic irrigations can accelerate the growth and improve its aspect in spring/winter.
