HELICHRYSUM cymosus

Description

Graceful evergreen ground cover plant native to South-Africa. It shows numerous and thick woody branches which grow in any direction and which are completely covered with very small oval leaves. The upper surface of these last ones is covered with very thick grey hair giving the plant a silvery aspect. Throughout summer, there is a spectacular blooming made up of numerous yellow flowers.

Suggestions

It needs sunny positions as well as drained and dried soils. After rooting, it tolerates drought, saltiness and sandy soils very well, so it is perfect for coastal gardens. Easy to grow, it can be used in containers where it will assume an hanging habit or as a ground cover plant for escarpments, sloping areas, rock gardens and at the base of trees and shrubs. After blooming, a light pruning can be useful to keep its compact aspect.
