APTENIA cordifolia “Variegata”

Description

Evergreen creeping succulent plant which creates in a short time green carpets of pretty purple flowers, blooming from spring until first frosts. Naturalized in many Italian regions, especially in coastal and dune locations, it is suitable to rock gardens as ground cover or hanging plant, in pots too. It’s deal in landscapes to stabilize slope grounds; because of its drought resistance, it is very useful in arid gardens. It also tolerates low light exposure, but in this case internodes become longer and leaves becomes larger assuming a less compact and tidy aspect.

Suggestions

In sunny places, blooming is richer. In case of water excess and poor lighting, the plant will produce bigger leaves and few flowers.
