ALLAMANDA cathartica

Evergreen succulent plant growing into a large well-branched bush and consisting of a multitude of rosettes that produce a lot of decorative red-orange inflorescences during the blooming period. It needs sunny locations and very well-drained soil; it doesn't require special cares. It gives the garden an exotic and interesting touch, especially if associated to other Mediterranean succulent plants or shrubs.

Ideal for coastal gardens, it could be successfully grown in the inner areas, because if placed in drained and dry soil, it tolerates some moderate frosts without any problem. Alternatively, it can be grown in pots bringing it in a sheltered place in winter. Thanks to its thick vegetation, it's suitable to impenetrable hedges, useful in dry gardens.
