CYTISUS scoparius

Description

Perennial ornamental shrub, native to central-western Europe, with an upright habit and up to 2.5 meters tall and large. It is made up of thin, supple branches of intense green color, which bear deciduous leaves and which in spring are covered with numerous fragrant flowers with scalar flowering. The species term "scoparius" means "similar to a broom" and alludes to the typical bearing of the plant.

Suggestions

It can be used to form monospecies hedges or also flowered bushes. It even tolerates the deep frost, but it needs to be placed at full sun or at semi-shade and in well drained soils. It also tolerates summer droughts and after blooming a light pruning can serve to keep compact and ordered the plant.
