BUXUS microphylla 'Faulkner'

Description

Vigorous variety of Buxus microphylla, perennial and evergreen shrub, widely used in topiary art, because, having excellent resistance to pruning, it can be worked in any form. The leaves are small, leathery, shiny, and a deep green color, but turn brick red in winter due to the lower temperatures. The greenish, insignificant but fragrant flowers bloom in spring.

Suggestions

Very rustic and adaptable plant; for a great development it needs sunny and shaded positions, but it's better to avoid the direct sun. in summer, it needs periodical irrigations but it's important avoiding water stagnations. It's a good pot plant, but it's also good for hedges or borders. Due to its short internodes, it is caractherized by a slower growth rate than other cultivars.
