BANKSIA integrifolia

Description

Interesting shrub or small evergreen tree, up to 8 m tall, suitable to hedges or as isolated specimen, especially in small gardens. Its leathery leaves are deep green on the upper side and silver on the bottom. Very decorative plant, throughout the year but especially when flowering. This consists of original and cylindrical yellow inflorescences followed by bizarre fruits, almost as pine cones. It prefers slightly acidic soils and it is resistant to drought, cold and brackish winds.

Suggestions

In poor or alkaline soils, it tends to turn yellow: so you should acidify the soil by adding peat and fertilize.
