BALLOTA pseudodictamnus

Description

Small Mediterranean shrub, with typical round and opposite, downy and yellow-silver small leaves. It forms a dense and velvety cushion, up to 50 cm tall, which produces pink and discreet flowers in early summer. Evergreen in warmer areas, it is quite resistant to cold. If frost damages it, a new vegetation regrows from the base. This plant tolerates well drought and it is ideal as ground cover plant in dry gardens, in rock gardens and as a hedge.

Suggestions

Ensure well drained soil and sunny position; avoid wetting the foliage. In autumn, if the branches become too long, they should be pruned: the plant will sprout again in spring.
