AGAVE americana

Description

Succulent and evergreen plant native to Mexico. Rosette shaped, it has fleshy and robust leaves with thorny apex and edges. It's a quite common plant in the Mediterranean area and it reaches massive proportions, giving the garden a special and exotic charm. At its maturity, it produces long and sturdy flower stems stimulating the plant to produce new shoots from the base. It is suitable both to coastal gardens and domestic ones. It can also be grown in pots.

Suggestions

In winter, avoid water excesses placing the plant in drained substrates. Although it tolerates long periods of drought, sporadic irrigations can accelerate growth and improve its aspect in spring/winter.
